I'm thinking abou getting a koto still, but struggling with the price/option trade off, so...

Get the chinese koto. It's not authentic, but it's affordable and you can't play yet.

Get the authentic japanese version. It's a little pricey, but there's a chance it could be usable with taiko someday.

Stop obsessing, you don't need another instrument! stop it!
