Feel like NWN2. Old character is about 4/5th way through game, but I can't remember what the story's up to. What to do?

Keep going with current character, fumble around and try to get back on track.
Start new character.
Don't play NWN2 (if you pick this, recommend me a fantasy RPG I haven't played before).
