What should I do after this year?

Stay at UCSC and just get the damn Ph.D. ASAP, and then move on to a cushy post doc.
Re-apply, move to another program, and spend 3-4 years there. A good advisor/name on your diploma is worth the hassle!
Quit school after this year and become a teacher. Fuck academia!
