Shore excursions are always a bone of contention with cruise passengers? How can the various cruise lines make them more appealing?

They can't - shore excursions are ridiculously expensive. Why would I pay triple the price that I would if I booked independently?

They should make sure the guides on the tours can speak the dominant languages fluently enough - they are always so hard to understand.

Shore excursions with the cruise lines are too restrictive. I want to do my own thing rather than be hoarded around with 50 other people

The shore excursions offered are good enough for me - there is a good selection and I prefer to be looked after when I'm visiting foreign, unknown places
