Should Venice have spent X dollars on all these trees versus some other worthy cause?

Yes, the trees make Venice look great
No, it has been that way for over 30 years and the tourist will still come to our lovely city
Not sure, what was the cost and would helping out the residents of Venice find jobs and put food on the table be a better way to spend the money
