Why is the company named Procter & Gamble, and not Gamble & Procter?

a. Mr. Procter won the coin toss.
b. Mr. Gamble had to end a prior business relationship & move into Mr. Procter’s office
c. Mr. Procter was older and Mr. Gamble was simply showing respect
