Accept the mentee as they are; don’t be judgmental
Be authentic; be yourself
Be consistent in your availability and approach
Build on the mentee’s strengths; help them find their personal path
Define the relationship goals and boundaries early on
Don’t expect immediate results; don’t get discouraged
