SAMPLE: I have 3 children (4 yr old boy, 2 yr old girl, and 1 yr old girl). My 4 yr old boy starts every day by ignoring or disagreeing with everything I say...for example..."CHILD X" please go get your clothes on before we get breakfast. "CHILD X" ignores. I request he do this repeatedly and just start getting frustrated. What should I do? What should I do if he says "no?"
SAMPLE: What do I do with this same child when he gets increasing hyper and runs around wrestling his younger sisters and putting them and himself in dangerous situations?
What is "normal" as far as tantrums for a 3.5 year old? What is the best method of dealing and eliminating tantrums?
I have a 3 1/2 girl and 14 month old son, and have been staying at home full time with them for the past 7 months. My daughter was in daycare for the first few years of her life and seems very happy to be home with me. Sometimes I feel guilty that she is not as actively engaged in activity since I often am focusing attention on my son. My question is: do you think it's beneficial and/or imperative for children to attend preschool? I waiver back and forth for many reasons and would appreciate an expert opinion.
My child is approaching 2 years old and still sleeps with her pacifier (only has in the crib). She sleeps 2 hours at nap time and 11 hours at night without waking. Should we take it away? Are there any medical reasons a child should not sleep with a binky past a certain age?
My 5 year old has had a tic that comes and goes and changes - mostly facial - blinking, rolling upper lip, yawning, head twitch. What do I need to look out for before it's a problem?
How do you recommend encouraging a 3 yr old to help more around the house? What creative ways can I involve him in simple chores to encourage him to be a contributing member of the fam?
I think my almost 3 year old son is holding in his bowel movements. At first we thought it was constipation (which I think it was early on) but after talking with our doctor we had tried every suggestion including miralax every day, changes in diet, cutting out certain foods, etc. it seemed to get better for awhile but now we are back where we started. My son usually poops once a week but cries and screams for two or three days leading up to the poop. He knows he needs to go but just cries and pulls/ presses at himself constantly. I don't think it is constipation because of all of these things we do on a daily basis. He also for the most part has very soft bowel movements. I don't know if he is afraid to go or what but the days leading up to him going are agonizing for him and for me! I need help!
How can I get my ebf 11 month old daughter to sleep in her own bed and self soothe?
