How easy is fundraising for a non-profit?

There are a lot of big strategic questions that usually need to be asked before fundraising should begin
Fundraising is so complicated that it can get neglected in order to focus on core programming
Just send out a letter and money will come
All you need is a simple fundraiser
It is not that complicated
If you post on social media, your awareness will increase, and people will just donate
The thought of it is just mind-boggling
I have no idea what non-profits have to think about when approaching fundraising
