When making a garment from a print fabric, is it better to match the pattern on a patch pocket, so the pocket is all but invisible, or not match the pattern, so the pocket shows on the finished garment?

Match the fabric. It looks more finished and professional
Don't match the fabric, if you're going to have a pocket, it should look like a pocket.
