wind power Offshore wind power currently accounts for 10.1% of the UK's total energy needs. It is by far the most developed of all of the marine renewables and is already considered to be cost effective against other more traditional methods of energy generation. One of the biggest concerns about offshore wind going forwards is the way in which it is secured to the seabed with a number of -maintenance issues attaching the turbine to the sea floorer issue with the current systems for onshore wind is that it competes for the same development money as many less developed technologies so may stunt growth in other fields. Pros: -cheap reliable energy generation -highly cost effective -numerous potential sites cons: -issues around attaching the turbine to the sea floor -maintenance issues -might stunt development of other types of renewable energy
