Barking and Dagenham Council and the charity Mencap are supporting Learning Disability Week which starts on 21 June at the Tulip Cafe - Barking Learning Centre.
The varied week of events, which runs until 27 June, is being organised by the Advisory Partners Barking and Dagenham self advocacy group
The launch will feature works by members in the community with a learning disability including the Gateway Club art and photography group, the Art Blanche project and the Mencap art group. A conference will be taking place during the day.
The week will feature an all ability sports day at Goresbrook Leisure centre, an Elvis evening at St Georges's Centre, a health walk at Eastbrookend Country Park, pool competition, and to end the week, a nightclub evening at Sharkies night club at the Hea

During Learning Disability Week, MENCAP wants health trusts and hospitals to sign up to the 'Getting it right charter' to show their support for equal healthcare.
Learning Disability Week 2010 will take place from 21-27 June. You are invited to send a photographer and reporter to these events
