Dear FB Professahs, I need some advice. I have a significant number of students who submitted an off-topic final paper. There were two paper assignments in this course: the first on Aristophanes, the second on Roman Comedy. I titled the second essay assignment "Essay #2 -- Roman Comedy & Satire" and instructed the students to work up one of their forum posts into an essay. I neglected to indicate which forums (my bad), but assumed the assignment title would inform them. Several have submitted off-topic papers on Aristophanes. What should I do? The final exam period ends on Friday, so tempus fugit.
Return the off-topic topic essays and require the students to rewrite on the correct topic.
Accept the off-topic topic essays for full credit.
Accept the off-topic topic essays but warn the students that they will lose points for being off-topic, and offer a rewrite option.
