My parents have this deal where if my dad leaves the toilet seat up or leaves pee in the toilet, my mom gets what’s called a “monkey.” When this happens, my dad “has a monkey on his back” which means he owes my mom a gift. One monkey might be a pair of shoes or a nice top while several monkeys might add up to a handbag. After 20 years of marriage it’s become a sort of game. So the other day my dad left spit snot in my mom’s sink of their pair of sinks. My mom told him, “that’s a monkey! Snot is grosser than pee. Snot monkey. It’s a thing.” My dad disagrees.
