It has been narrated from the Prophet (S) that Allah (SWT) has said:“I am the most needless of needless partners. So whomever performs an action and dedicates it to an ascribed partner in addition to Me, then I am above this dedication and this dedication is for the one who the dedicator had ascribed as my partner”. By what features do we recognize the partners we unconsciously ascribe to Allah:
1.It depends on our social constructs; different societies have different value systems.
2. It depends on an individual’s understanding of Allah and the role He plays in one’s life.
3. It depends on the deficits each person has in life; whatever we are lacking in life (wealth, health, family) becomes an end goal which replaces Allah.
