What is your vision for emerging Haverhill based on lessons learned from this past year and pandemic?
1. Maintained School buildings with the funding that can guarantee the highest quality of education and opportunities for ALL Haverhill children.
2. Stop spending and cut taxes.
3. Some of the special things we did such as redesign of restaurants and the way people shop will need to continue.
4. More and better maintained green spaces.
5. Need for creative outlets and shared public spaces to bring us together.
6. Broadband is essential and should be treated as a public utility. The council needs to appropriate some of that Federal money we are getting, and get it done.
7. The Clean River Project to keep our river and its banks clean.
8. Lots of people stating they are looking for housing and truly can’t afford the rents.
9. Spend most of the stimulus money on infrastructure: water, sewer, sewer outflow into the river.
10. Economic opportunity equity.
11. Affordable, public healthcare.
12. A larger fire department to allow 4-man engine companies for the safety of the fire fighters.
13. New fire stations on the sections of the city where response times are too long to make a difference.
14. A larger police department.
15. Tim Slavit's riverboat might be a start for bringing people back here.
16. How about more for the kids to do in town.
17. Fix traffic lights on timers, Lafayette square, light from the courthouse to police station.
18. Pay our educators a living wage.
19. Education support professional (ESPs) are even more valuable yet underpaid than most had realized before.
20. Racial justice.
21. I would love to see the former Bldg. 19 spot developed,
22. Pot shops must abide to their agreements with the city by donating some of their proceeds back to the city.
23. Celebrate the spirit of all the volunteers that stepped up on an annual basis.
24. Perhaps the City can also invest in its own supplemental water pressure enhancement with a water tower.
25. Protect our rural areas instead of trying to decrease lot sizes.
26. A lot of businesses have rather trashy storefronts - there should be standards for appearance and upkeep.
27. Copy A River front - Like Portsmouth! 300+ Restaurants with a population of 25k.
28. I'd be thrilled with even a 1/2 mile of smooth road anywhere within the city!
29. Whatever plan, we must consider all demographics that make up Haverhill’s diverse communities.
