In a Facebook poll of 3,404 respondents, 49.4% chose “3 - مهدي من الجزائر”. How we count
Morocco supplied the single biggest vote bloc on this poll — 50 votes in the top-country tally — and it went overwhelmingly for طاهره. It wasn't enough. مهدي won on the strength of everywhere else: Algeria, Egypt, the US, Tunisia, France and Libya all leaned his way, and their combined weight buried Morocco's hometown favorite by nine points.
The gender split tells the same story a different way: طاهره drew 139 women to 47 men, a genuine crossover appeal. مهدي pulled an even more lopsided 182 women to 44 men — meaning his win wasn't a men's-vote story either. He simply had the broader map, and the map decided it from day one, with the margin never dropping below roughly 49% across all 17 days.
- Morocco's bloc, overruled · Morocco's 50 votes leaned طاهره, but she still lost by 9 points.
- Multi-country coalition wins · Algeria, Egypt, US, Tunisia, France, Libya all leaned مهدي.
- Steady margin, no drama · مهدي's lead held between 49% and 54% for all 17 days.
