Merlin controlled this race from day one, holding leads as high as 46% through the first hundred days. Then on day 106 — nearly two-thirds of the way through a 165-day run — Arthur overtook him and held the top spot for 59 straight days. When the final votes landed, Merlin clawed back just enough to win: 1,915 to 1,858, a 1.1-point margin as tight as this poll gets.
The two frontrunners drew very different crowds: Merlin's supporters ran 35% male, Arthur's just 11%. Everyone else split the remainder thin — Morgana held 10% largely on her own, while Kilgharrah, Gaius, Lancelot, Gwen and Uther each stayed under 3%.
