Ahmed Shafik didn't just win this field of eleven — he owned it, opening above 70% and never dipping under 72% for the next 46 days. With 3,219 votes he outpolled Amr Moussa, the runner-up, by nearly eight to one, and beat the other nine candidates combined by more than two to one.

The votes behind that number tell the sharper story: Shafik pulled 64% male support, a relatively broad coalition. Moussa's smaller base skewed far harder male at 82%, and the same pattern shows in Egypt and the US, the poll's two biggest countries, where Shafik led both. This wasn't a coin flip that broke his way — it was a base he had locked in from vote one.

  • Male skew gap · Moussa's backers ran 82% male vs. Shafik's broader 64%
  • 46 days unmoved · Shafik's share never dropped below 72% after day 1
  • Nine-candidate margin · Shafik alone outvoted the other ten candidates combined
