Amr Moussa opened strong, holding a steady 50-55% lead over Ahmed Shafik through the poll's first 24 days. Then day 25 flipped everything: Shafik surged to a 63% share, kept climbing to 69% within days, and never gave the lead back again — a swing as sudden as it was total.
Shafik cruised the remaining 165 days locked around 58-59%, finishing with 4,403 votes (58.3%) to Moussa's 1,111 (14.7%) — a nearly 4-to-1 landslide. The gender lines told their own story: El Baradei's backers ran 76% male, the most lopsided split of any candidate, while Shafik's coalition was the most gender-balanced despite winning outright.
- Day 25 flip · Moussa's 24-day lead vanished overnight as Shafik jumped to 63%
- Landslide finish · Shafik's 58.3% beat Moussa's 14.7% by nearly 4-to-1
- Most male-skewed base · El Baradei's voters ran 76% male, the sharpest gender split
- Balanced winner · Shafik's support was the most gender-even among all candidates
