Rosalinda is a school principal in an urban high school. First and foremost she runs for the healthy aspects. However she also believes, "Running is cheaper than therapy." She began dedicating her runs to several of her students. She would listen to their stories of struggle, and discovered that just taking a few moments to talk and listen to them was allowing them to see the upside of their situations. Being able to express that she was dedicating an upcoming run in recognition of them made running more meaningful to her and her students. In the end, her students learned that it was better to “kick asphalt” than to allow life to kick them.

Suz is a mom of 2, a soccer coach, successful professional and an amazingly strong woman. She ran her first marathon at age 35 while in the Army. The only constant in her life has been her two daughters and the pavement. She has endured and survived serious challenges including a divorce after 18 years and cervical cancer. The desire to run more marathons and caring for her two daughters was her inspiration and in the end drove her to beat both challenges!! Running is her safe haven. Recently diagnosed with breast cancer, she continues to push herself on the pavement. Every time her sneakers hit the pavement she knows there are other women with struggles and hardships much worse than hers. To her running is not about winning the race, it’s about beating the odds.
