AMC opened with every vote before Studebaker overtook it on day 2 and held a 33% cushion into day 3. Delorean then seized the top spot on day 4, building a commanding 50% lead — the kind that usually holds. It didn't: on the last day, AMC surged back ahead by 40% and closed it out with 781 votes.
None of that makes AMC's win a mandate. Its 23.5% share means roughly three in four voters backed someone else, and the chase pack stayed brutally tight — Duesenberg (586), Studebaker (565), and day-4 leader Delorean (505) finished separated by just 81 votes. In a 9-way field, the comeback was decisive; the margin wasn't.
- Three lead changes · AMC, Studebaker, and Delorean each held the top spot before the finish.
- Final-day flip · AMC reclaimed the lead only on day 5, after trailing Delorean.
- Fragmented finish · Winner AMC took just 23.5% — under a quarter of all votes.
- Tight chase pack · Duesenberg, Studebaker, and Delorean finished within 81 votes of each other.
