British English led an eight-option field with 24.7%, but its support was strongly female: 21 women to seven men. French finished second at 18.7%, powered by 16 men and seven women.
The geographic dissent came from Italy, the largest listed voting bloc, which leaned Spanish rather than the overall winner. No accent reached even a quarter of the vote.
