Hong Kong cast 1,906 of the 3,523 votes here — more than half the room — and stationery (文具) was their clear pick. Backpacks (背囊) won the poll anyway, 476 to 467, a nine-vote margin. Among 97 options, that's a plurality built by outsiders, not a hometown mandate.

Stationery actually led for the first two days. Backpacks overtook it on day 3 and held that edge the rest of the way, powered by voters outside Hong Kong — the US, UK, Australia, Macao and Malaysia all favored backpacks, while Taiwan's 402 voters wanted dinnerware (餐具) instead. The majority in the room simply got outvoted by the map.
