Who deserves to be named Kohl's Kicking National Player of the Week? (Sept. 3)
In a Facebook poll of 2,336 respondents, 39.2% chose “Everett Hayes (California) - 53-yard field goal (school record)”. How we count
United States voters, the single largest bloc at 1,155 ballots, leaned toward Jack Tannehill's game-winning kick. But Everett Hayes' 53-yard, school-record field goal pulled a wave of overseas support — Germany, Czechia, Bangladesh, Malaysia, all leaning his way — and that outside push carried him to 39.2% and the overall win, ahead of Tannehill's 28.6%.
The two frontrunners also split the room by gender. Hayes' coalition ran 58% male, drawn in by the raw distance of his kick. Tannehill's backers skewed the opposite direction, nearly two-thirds female (65%), rallying behind his full four-way stat line — the win, the punt pinned inside the 10, the touchbacks.
