"La Oreja de Van Gogh" opened with a runaway 32% lead on day 1, and it looked unbeatable — still up 18 points through day 5. Then day 6 flipped everything: J Balvin surged past for a 23-point lead and never looked back, closing the 9-day race at 28.1% to La Oreja's 7%.
The real gap wasn't reggaeton vs. ballads — it was gender. Jowell & Randy pulled a staggering 2,457 male voters to just 902 female, while Justin Bieber and MC Fly ran the opposite: 194 and 326 women against a handful of men. Chile drove the early ballad surge; Colombia and the U.S. broke hard for Balvin.
