Six identities competed for the crown of daydream self, and none came close to a majority. The mastermind topped the pack with just 24% — barely ahead of the grifter's 21.8% and "my own kind of person" at 20.3%. Three options separated by under four points; in a field this fragmented, winning mostly meant not losing by much.

The demographics explain why the top three split the way they did. Among voters who shared gender, the mastermind pulled an even 50/50 split — the only option any group agreed on. The grifter and "my own kind of person" drew roughly three-in-four women, while the hacker vote ran two-in-three men. Same daydream, different audiences.

  • Fragmented win · Winner took just 24% in a six-way field
  • Even split · Mastermind voters ran 50% male, 50% female — a rare tie
  • Grifter's crowd · Grifter voters were roughly three-in-four women
  • Hacker's crowd · Hacker voters ran about two-in-three men
