In a Facebook poll of 2,804 respondents, 15.9% chose “34 - الدار البيضاء”. How we count
Casablanca topped the count from the first day and held it through all 11, but its final share was 15.9% — meaning more than four in five voters scattered their votes across the other 166 cities on the list. Marrakech trailed a distant second at 9.1%, and the rest of the field fell off fast: Agadir, Tangier, and Fez all landed under 7%, with dozens of towns settling for single-digit vote counts.
The spread cuts by gender too. Women drove the top of the table hard — outvoting men roughly 2-to-1 for Casablanca, better than 3-to-1 for Marrakech, and 11-to-1 for Fez. With no runner-up ever closing the gap and 176 total options splitting the pool, this was less a coronation than a plurality holding off a crowd.
- Fragmented Field · 176 cities competed; the winner claimed just 15.9%
- Distant Second · Marrakech's 9.1% was barely half the leader's share
- Female-Heavy Fez · Women outvoted men 11-to-1 in Fez's tally
- Steady Lead, Weak Mandate · Casablanca led all 11 days without ever reaching 20%
