Matt without hat opened at 59% on day one and never gave up the top spot across all 92 days — this wasn't a nail-biter, it was a settled preference that eroded gently from a blowout to a solid win. By the close: 1,300 votes to 1,172, a 130-vote cushion built almost entirely in the first two weeks.

The real story is the shape of the erosion — the margin drifted from a 20-point rout down to roughly 5 points and then flatlined at 53% for the poll's back two-thirds, day after day. Hat-Matt clawed back ground early, then simply ran out of runway to close the rest.

  • Day-one gap · No-hat led 59% to 41% right out of the gate
  • Long plateau · Margin held steady at 53% for roughly 60 straight days
  • UK dominance · 146 UK votes, the single biggest bloc, leaned no-hat
