No twist here: 6.5 opened with half the vote and closed with half the vote. Across 2,435 responses it beat 6.X by roughly 15 points every single day, 50.8% to 36%, without a single lead change over 25 days — the definition of a settled result.
The long tail tells the real story of this install base: 6.1% are still holding out for Phone 7, while 5.X and pre-5.X combined barely clear 4%. Whatever's driving loyalty here, it isn't nostalgia for the older builds — it's people already on 6.5 or waiting for what's next.
- Untouched lead · 6.5 led by 48-52% every single day, zero lead changes.
- Old builds fade · 5.X and pre-5.X together pull under 4% combined.
- Small holdout bloc · 6.1% are waiting on Phone 7 instead of using what they have.
