John Gilbert Mariano led through the first two days, but Caven Ching moved ahead in the final stretch and finished with 367 votes, or 35.2%. Mariano ended just 30 votes behind at 32.3%.
The late shift transformed the result after Mariano’s early lead. Caven Ching’s support was also the strongest among the largest country group: 799 voters from the Philippines leaned his way.
