Early votes broke hard for a criminal element behind Michael Jackson's death — 80% on day one. That lead didn't survive contact with more voters: accidental overdose flipped it by day 2, lost it back to criminal element by day 6, then reclaimed it for good on day 13. Over the next 635 days, the race never budged again.
Across 8,326 votes, accidental overdose finished at 52% to criminal element's 48% — a gap forged in the first two weeks and frozen ever since. The U.S., Canada and most smaller countries in the sample leaned toward overdose, while a scattered few — Bahamas, Czechia, Turks & Caicos — broke for foul play instead.
- Triple lead flip · Lead changed hands three times in the first 13 days, then never again.
- 80% opening swing · Day 1 voters favored criminal element 80% before the reversal.
- 635-day stalemate · Standings held rock-steady at 52%-48% for the poll's remaining life.
