Joe Nuxhall won the Frick Award ballot with 670 votes, but Tom Cheek was only 26 votes behind at 644. Their final shares—41% and 39.4%—put the contest within 1.6 percentage points.

Bill King was the only other candidate above 10%, with 201 votes. Nuxhall led at both checkpoints, but the margin remained razor-thin.
