Help us choose which Pokémon to name new ant species after [Pick 5] www.pokemoncontest.com
In a Facebook poll of 29,781 respondents, 15% chose “Durant | an ant-like, highly territorial creature that lives in underground colonies”. How we count
Durant grabbed the lead on day 1 with a 16-point cushion over Charizard and never looked back. By day 6 the margin settled at 15% and held there, unmoved, for the poll's last 17 days straight through to the finish: 4,461 votes (15%) crowning the actual ant-like Pokémon to name new ant species after — a fitting landslide.
The real fight was for second. Charizard, Scyther, and Genesect each briefly held the runner-up spot in the first five days before Anorith took over on day 6 and defended it the rest of the way, finishing at 6.7% (1,996). Geography threw a curveball too: while the US, Italy, Germany, Spain, and the UK all leaned Durant, Australia bucked the trend for Charizard and Mexico backed Anorith instead.
- Wire-to-wire leader · Durant led by 16% on day 1 and never trailed again
- Runner-up scramble · Second place flipped between Charizard, Scyther, and Genesect before Anorith locked it up
- Steady 23-day margin · Durant's lead held rock-flat at 15% from day 6 to day 23
- Country curveball · Australia backed Charizard and Mexico backed Anorith, breaking from Durant's global trend
