Marcus Grima of St. Andrews captured 51.1% of the vote, finishing 20.2 points ahead of Jan Tanti and more than four times ahead of Michele Sansone.
His lead held throughout all 23 days, with Malta’s 561 voters leaning toward him. The result included 237 female votes for Grima, compared with 199 male votes.
