Anita topped the field, but 'topped' is generous: 77% of voters picked someone else. Thirteen names on the ballot meant the field fractured into thin slices — Pavani at 12.6%, then Shalini, Lavanya and Tejaswini bunched inside a few points of each other, with six more names all landing between 3% and 7%.

This wasn't a two-horse race decided late — Anita grabbed the plurality by day 2 and simply held the largest slice of a badly divided pie for the rest of the six days. The real story is the crowd: with 2,492 votes spread across 13 contestants, no one was ever close to a majority.
