Philip Mulpeter wasn't just ahead early — he led by roughly 18-20 points on each of the first three days. Then day 4 hit and Sam McNally overtook him for good, closing at 17% to 15.9%. Across 2,459 votes, 1.1 points separated first from second — a margin thin enough that whoever showed up last decided it.
Ireland cast by far the biggest bloc, 1,177 votes, and it stuck with Mulpeter the whole way. McNally's win came from outside that base: the UK's 209 votes and Austria's 33 both leaned his way, and his supporters skewed 80% male versus Mulpeter's near-even 55%. A different crowd showed up late, and it was enough.
- Final margin · 1.1 points separated 1st and 2nd place
- Late flip · Mulpeter led days 1-3, lost the lead on day 4
- Split crowd · McNally's backers ran 80% male vs Mulpeter's 55%
- Home turf dissent · Ireland's 1,177 votes, the largest bloc, backed the runner-up
