This wasn't a contest. From the first vote to the last of 133 days, one answer held a clean majority-sized edge and never dipped below roughly half the field: happily fork out 30p/50c, or £10/$15 a year. It finished at 53.1% — 1,951 votes — nearly double the runner-up.

The real story is what didn't happen: almost nobody said no. Combine every refusal — free-forever, principled barterers, the death-wish holdouts, the outright hater — and it's under 13% of 3,672 votes. Stack the two paying tiers together and 83.3% of listeners committed real money, led comfortably by the US and UK.

  • Runaway majority · 53.1% picked the cheapest paid tier outright, no contest ever close
  • Payers vs refusers · 83.3% would pay something; under 13% said no in any form
  • Two nations, one verdict · US (227) and UK (215) both leaned to the same top answer
