In a Facebook poll of 3,654 respondents, 21.9% chose “Lewis Hamilton”. How we count
· Share: ···
Twenty-four drivers split this field so thin that Lewis Hamilton claimed the win with just 21.9% — meaning nearly 4 in 5 voters picked someone else. Jenson Button (18.1%) and Michael Schumacher (16.5%) trailed within single digits, and the bottom nineteen options combined couldn't touch Hamilton's total alone.
The gap tells the real story: those nineteen also-rans — from Kovalainen down to Petrov — pulled a combined 21.5%, almost matching the winner by themselves. Hamilton's lead held steady near 22-23% from day one, but a plurality this thin isn't a mandate, it's a field too crowded to crown a clear favorite.
- Thin plurality · Hamilton won with just 21.9% — under a quarter of all votes
- Long tail power · 19 lowest options combined nearly matched the winner's share
- UK breaks ranks · Britain's largest voting bloc backed Jenson Button, not Hamilton
