Ellen Rock led the opening stretch, but Consuelo Martínez moved ahead by the early checkpoints and stayed there through the finish. Martínez collected 575 votes, taking 30.5% compared with Rock’s 20.3%.
The top two drew sharply different audiences: Martínez’s voters were nearly even by gender, while Rock’s support was 53% female. Voters in the United States and Mexico leaned Martínez; Panama leaned Rock.
