Part B. Teachers’ response to students’ non-attendance: What do you design (if anything) in response to students’ non-attendance? (Please justify your choice in the comments)
a) I develop a system of punishments (e.g. lower number of points/grades; asking to do more classwork);
b) I develop ways for students to compensate learning for missed classes that is not punishment (e.g. interviewing peers about the class learning events and reporting on class forum about what the absentee found interesting);
c) I design rich learning activities (e.g. on-line lectures; additional literature; audio-recording the class and placing audio-records on the class web) that students can use to compensate their learning if they wish;
d) I help absentee students only when they ask for help;
e) In itself attendance does not matter -- I design a system of summative assessments that can objectively measure students’ knowledge and skills necessary for passing the class (brilliant autodidact students may not need attendance).
f) I don’t do anything;
g) Combination of some above (please explain in the comment);
h) Other (please explain).
