In a Facebook poll of 2,916 respondents, 26.9% chose “Ennahdha (Islamisme)”. How we count
No party came close to a majority here. Ennahdha topped the field with just 26.9% of 2,916 votes, edging Parti démocrate progressiste's 21.8% by five points — and the other nine parties split the remaining half, with four of them stuck below 4%. A plurality carried the day, not a mandate.
The two frontrunners also pulled different crowds. Ennahdha's coalition ran 85% male, while PDP's backers were 70% male — noticeably more mixed. Add in the diaspora: voters from Tunisia, the US and France all leaned Ennahdha, while Germany's small contingent broke for Congrès pour la république instead.
- Plurality, not mandate · Winner Ennahdha took just 26.9% of the vote
- Nine-way scramble · The other nine parties split roughly half the vote
- Gender gap up top · Ennahdha's backers were 85% male vs PDP's 70%
- Diaspora tilt · US and France voters leaned Ennahdha; Germany didn't
