Quelle équipe sera sacrée Champion du monde 2010 ??

This wasn't close. Espagne opened at 41% on day one and, 161 days and 2,576 votes later, closed at 36.7% — a 22-point cushion over runner-up Argentine that no rival ever dented. Brésil and Argentine traded second place behind it, but neither ever got within striking distance of the lead.

The backing was as lopsided as the scoreline: 369 men to 25 women picked Espagne, and among the 22 voters who named a country, Tunisia alone supplied 53 votes — more than 17 of the 31 options combined. A poll about the world's best team turned into a referendum decided almost entirely by one demographic in one region.

• Untouched lead · Espagne led by 30%+ on all but a handful of the 161 days
• Gender skew · Espagne voters ran 369 men to just 25 women
• Regional stronghold · Tunisia alone cast 53 votes, nearly all for Espagne
• Distant field · Argentine's 14.6% was the best anyone else could manage
