In a Facebook poll of 4,826 respondents, 16.9% chose “Steven Wilson - Hand.Cannot.Erase”. How we count

Share: ···

Progressive rock fans threw 455 albums onto the ballot and never converged. Steven Wilson's Hand.Cannot.Erase overtook Neal Morse Band's The Similitude of a Dream on day 2, then the entire field froze — 4,826 votes and 7 more days produced zero further movement in the standings.

The finish line tells the real story: the winner captured just 16.9%, with Wilson's own Raven That Refused To Sing right behind at 11.5% — his two albums combined outpolled everyone else's single entry. Beyond the top five, votes scattered across hundreds of one- and two-vote write-ins, from Rush to Tool to albums barely anyone else picked.

  • Frozen field · Leader locked in by day 2, unchanged for the remaining 7 days
  • Plurality, not majority · Winner took 16.9% against 454 rivals
  • One artist, two slots · Wilson's two albums combined beat every other single entry
  • Long tail · Hundreds of albums drew just 1-2 votes each
