In a Facebook poll of 17,682 respondents, 38.1% chose “The Dark Side of the Moon”. How we count
From day one, The Dark Side of the Moon seized the lead and never let go — 40% out of the gate while Animals briefly held second. By day 23, The Wall overtook Animals for the runner-up spot, and that order held for the entire rest of the poll: no lead change, no late surge, just a slow half-point fade from 40% to 38% as votes piled up across 984 days.
The real split isn't who won — it's who showed up. Non-fans outvoted self-identified fans by more than 160 to 1 on the winning album, and men outnumbered women roughly 3-to-1 across every option. The Dark Side of the Moon's dominance was global too: it led in all ten top countries, from the U.S. and UK down to Argentina — a rare unanimous verdict.
- Iron-clad lead · The Dark Side of the Moon led from day 1 through day 984 — zero lead changes.
- Day 23 shakeup · The Wall passed Animals for 2nd place and held it the rest of the way.
- Non-fans ran the vote · Winning album drew 6,696 non-fans vs just 41 self-identified fans.
- Global unanimity · All ten top countries, U.S. to Argentina, favored the same album.
