In a Facebook poll of 2,500 respondents, 17.9% chose “1-الدار البيضاء”. How we count
Twenty Moroccan cities competed and Casablanca topped the board — yet it only convinced 17.9% of voters, an early lead of 448 votes that never translated into anything close to a majority. Marrakech held second the entire way at 14%, and Agadir a clear third at 11.8%, but the real story is the other 56% of votes scattered across seventeen more cities.
The gap between 1st and 2nd never moved: Casablanca's edge sat at 18-19 points over Marrakech from day one through day 127, rock-steady across four months. But steadiness at the top masked total fragmentation below it — six cities landed within a tight 4.8%-6.8% band, and the bottom five options combined for barely 5% of all votes.
- Plurality, not majority · Winner Casablanca took just 17.9% of 2,500 votes
- Frozen margin · Lead over Marrakech held at 18-19% for all 127 days
- Crowded midfield · Six cities bunched between 4.8% and 6.8%, no separation
- Long tail · Bottom five cities combined for near 5% of the vote
