In a Facebook poll of 2,301 respondents, 26.5% chose “outshyne-country boy in me”. How we count

Share: ···

Doug McCormick owned the lead from open, up by a comfortable spread on day 1, still ahead on day 2, still ahead on day 3. Outshyne's "Country Boy In Me" sat in second the entire stretch — until day 4, when it finally passed him and didn't give the spot back.

The final gap: 609 to 578, a 1.4-point margin out of 2,301 votes cast across 69 options. Nobody else came close to either of them — third place topped out near 4%. It's a two-song race decided by 31 ballots, with the U.S. voting bloc actually favoring the runner-up.

  • Day 4 flip · Outshyne overtook Doug McCormick only on the final day of voting.
  • 31-vote margin · 609 to 578 — 1.4 points apart out of 2,301 votes.
  • Fragmented field · 69 options; the winner claimed just 26.5% of the vote.
  • U.S. dissent · America's largest voting bloc actually backed Doug McCormick, not the winner.
