The Devil Wears Prada edged First Wives Club by just 12 votes, 369 to 357. Its 17.9% share was enough to top an eight-film field where no choice reached one-fifth of the vote.
The contest settled almost immediately: Prada took the lead on day 2 and remained first through the remaining checkpoints. Steel Magnolias finished within 45 votes of the runner-up, underscoring how widely the 2,059 votes were scattered.
