This wasn't close. "No" grabbed the lead on day 1 at 27% and simply never let go — creeping to a 35% share it held wire-to-wire through all 218 days. Not one lead change. The iPhone camp stayed the closest challenger the entire time but never closed the gap, finishing at 20.1% versus 35% for smartphone holdouts.

Below the leader, the real fight was among smartphone owners themselves: Droid (16.7%) edged past Blackberry (10.9%) and Nokia (7.8%), while niche also-rans like the Palm Pre and Google Nexus One barely cracked 0.5% each. Women outvoted men on every single option, most sharply among "No" voters (1,486 women to 290 men) — the clearest split in the data.

  • Wire-to-wire leader · "No" led by day 1 and never trailed across 218 days
  • Zero lead changes · One option led the entire poll, start to finish
  • Gender gap · Women outnumbered men roughly 5-to-1 among "No" voters
  • iPhone's ceiling · Closest rival stalled at 20.1%, 15 points behind No
