HTC Hero/Droid Eris jumped out front, winning day 1 with 30% and holding through day 3. But HTC HD2 grabbed the lead on day 4 — then lost it, regained it, lost it again. Five flips in the first three weeks alone, HD2 and Hero trading the top spot back and forth before anything settled.

Day 23 was the last flip. From there HD2 pulled steadily away, climbing from 33% to a final 37% while Hero stalled near 30%, never threatening again across 232 more days. The Touch Pro2 and Touch Diamond2 fought a distant third, but the real story is a five-swing dogfight that resolved into a runaway.
